Founder and chief executive of NutriScience Corporation. Twenty-two years buying nutrition brands and running them, and the person who reads your first email.
Gerry Morton buys nutrition and consumer health brands and runs them. He founded NutriScience Corporation in November 2003 to do exactly that and has been its CEO ever since. He has made five acquisitions since 2004 and still owns every one of them.
He acquired EnergyFirst in 2004 and remains its CEO. Under his ownership it introduced naturally sweetened, low-glycemic protein powders and a line of organic nutritional products, and grew onto the Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing private companies on organic revenue alone. Lean Lifestyle followed in 2005, Permalean and 7 Natural Laws in 2014, and Greens Plus in 2016. Greens Plus created the first commercially available blended green superfood powder and bar; since the acquisition it has reached top SPINS rankings in its category and multi-year best-seller status at Trader Joe’s.
Most months he is in a room with owners working through the same decisions his own founders face. He has chaired a TIGER 21 Group in Los Angeles since 2024, running confidential peer sessions for founders, CEOs and wealth creators with $30 million or more in investable assets as they work through portfolio preservation, legacy, and what comes after the company. He was named Rookie of the Year, the award given to the top new Chair worldwide, and a Chair of Excellence in 2026. He serves on the board of YPO’s Global One Chapter, where he has held the Member Engagement Officer, Gold Chapter Chair and Membership Chair roles, and is a past president of Entrepreneurs’ Organization Los Angeles, where he created and launched EO’s global Accelerator Program. He has been retained as an expert witness in several matters as a small business expert.
The clearest public record of his turnaround work is not a private company. From 2014 to 2018 he was Chairman of the Board and Council President of the Greater Los Angeles Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, an organization serving 26,000 young people that had been losing millions of dollars a year. Within two years it was running a $1 million operating surplus. He retired $13.2 million in debt, raised more than $25 million in development dollars including a $10 million gift to permanently endow Lake Arrowhead Scout Camp, and led the merger that formed one of the largest Scout councils in the country.
Closer to home, he served six years on the Manhattan Beach Planning Commission and chaired it from 2020 to 2022. He has sat on the board of the Rotary Club of Manhattan Beach since 2010, served as club president in 2022-23, and was named its Rotarian of the Year. He also serves on the board of Villanova Preparatory School and the finance committee of the Arrowhead Lake Association.
Before NutriScience he developed more than $20 million of residential property in the South Bay, ran business development at CNP Technologies, where he worked with the company’s investment bankers on positioning it ahead of its sale, and sold enterprise software at Interwoven and SQRIBE Technologies, carrying quota through the year Investor’s Business Daily ranked Interwoven the fastest-growing software company in America.
He holds a BSBA in entrepreneurship from the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management, an MS in nutrition from Clayton College and an Executive MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management. He completed the Entrepreneurial Masters Program at MIT Sloan and the HBS/YPO President’s Program in Leadership at Harvard Business School. He is the author of The Energy Guidebook.
Off the clock he holds himself to the same standard. He is a four-time Ironman finisher with more than 50 marathons behind him, has raced the Catalina Classic 32-mile paddleboard crossing and walked the 230-mile John Muir Trail in seven days. He is a private pilot, a ship captain, a licensed real estate broker and an Eagle Scout.
